Museum of Technology, Cambridge

A great place - much better than the photos, but they might remind the boys what a good time they had there!

It's all based in the old sewerage pumping works, by the River Cam. Two steam engines, powered from coke
and domestic rubbish pumped the sewage up to the works in Milton. Later, two 'town gas' powered engines were
added to pump storm water into a holding tank.
The museam also has a whole range of hand pumps for you to try.

Open every summer Sunday - and steam days are on summer bank holidays.

The museum is very hands-on and the suberb and enthusiastic staff make it well worth a visit.

Check out the museum's website at http://www.museumoftechnology.com for some MUCH better photos.
